As the year comes to a close it is a time to reflect on the best apps of 2013: the ones that saved your life, the ones that made your life easier and the ones with unexpected features that were a welcome surprise. We have put together a list of our favourite apps from 2013 as well as some apps that we are watching closely to see their developments. Share with us your favourite apps in the comments box and if they are the same as us, let us know.

Hassle Me

Can you be a little forgetful? Don't worry, Hassle Me will literally hassle you until you get things done. Whether you need to meet a deadline or meet a friend for dinner, Hassle Me won't let you forget.

Any.do

It might be worth considering this planning app as your task management app of choice. It has extra perks such as text prediction, syncing and sharing options that set it apart from the competition and it is simple and well-designed.

Fixya

Fixya is a community of people who can help you fix practical problems. All you have to do is simply video record your problem and wait for the help to arrive on your phone. Fixya has assisted over 13 million people and counting.

Vine

There is no denying the numbers, Vine has boomed this year with 5 tweets every second containing a Vine link. Yes, 5 tweets a SECOND with a Vine link. Instagram video didn't seem to falter this video sharing app that is going from strength to strength.

Lumosity Mobile

It may seem that we exercise our brains quite enough during an average days work, but for those of you wishing to exercise your brain just that little bit more, Luminosity Mobile will deliver. You can exercise your big noggin with daily teasers that help to improve your memory and concentration.

LogMeIn

Mobile devices are mini pocket computers for most of us and LogMeIn helps to bridge the gap between your actual computer and your phone. You can remotely access your computer and view it on your phone's screen as though your computer was right in front of you.

Team Stream

Calling all sports fans. Team Stream allows you to pick your favourite teams and streams current information about those teams. Football, cricket, whatever your sport of choice, you can follow it here.

Rove

Ideal for the tourist, this app maps your route around a new city so you can view it later on. You will be able to show friends and family your exact route around each city and share information on the landmarks you saw.

Shazam

You know that feeling when a song comes on the radio that you love but you have no clue who it is by? Shazam is here to solve this problem. Simply open the app and press the Shazam button. Within a few seconds the app will tell you the song and the artist. You can then download the app if you like it enough.

mParking

Parking in a city can sometimes be frustrating especially if you need the correct change. You now don't have to worry about this in Dubai with the MParking app. You can pay for parking via your mobile device and even view your parking history by week, month and year.
