Two New Apps for Tecom Investments. Two apps designed uniformly to give a better cross platform user experience.
The Brief
TECOM Investments, a member of Dubai Holding and the developer and operator of Dubai’s leading business parks, commissioned Prototype Interactive to develop two new apps.
The first app, Tecom Direct helps visitors find businesses via the geo-location directory and acts as a portal for customers to pay for parking. The second app, Tecom Suggest, is a platform for Tecom business park customers to make suggestions to improve the infrastructure and buildings. The apps needed to be delivered fast on multiple platforms and we selected Telerik Platform for the task.
The Technology
We took a unified design approach with the ambition that the app would look the same across different operating systems.
With this in mind, we had to ensure we found a common ground in regards to the navigational experience of each app. Due to the tight deadline and the requirement to release the first app only after 4 weeks we used an agile approach; we split functionality into sprints, held daily meetings and aimed to have workable releases every week. The initial sprints were challenging as sprints were short followed by one to two days of integration testing.
Project Methodology
Both apps use GEO location and maps to provide location based information.
The apps are developed using HTML5, Telerik Platform and Kendo UI.
Additionally to GPS, the app integrates with native features such as taking photos or push notifications.
The Result
The agile approach we used enabled us to build, test and publish the app within only four weeks on both iOS and Android
Using the Telerik Platform allowed us to develop the app in half the usual time than it would using any other platform.
